Lear UK Sites Win RoSPA Awards Again
In an annual ceremony for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards, Lear UK's Coventry received its fifth consecutive RoSPA gold award, resulting in a Gold Medal Award. Also, Lear Redditch and the Guilford Europe facility in Alfreton celebrated their third consecutive gold awards.
Organizations of any size are eligible for consideration and entrants from any industry or location may compete by responding to the Society's ten key performance questions. In addition, an entity must provide accident, ill health and enforcement data and supply hyperlinked evidence to support its request. RoSPA's judges evaluate responses and determine a ranking for the awards.
A registered British charity founded in 1916, RoSPA aims to save lives and prevent life-changing injuries which occur as a result of accidents with the stated mission "exchanging life-enhancing skills and knowledge to reduce serious accidental injuries". Past notable RoSPA contributions include its campaigning for the compulsory wearing of seatbelts and against impaired driving and most recently the prohibition on handheld mobile phones while driving. Coventry and Redditch are located in the greater Birmingham area and Alfreton is approximately 50 miles (80 km) northeast of the city.
