Hungarian team organizes special fundraising event for local schools for autistic children

In May Lear team members at the Gödöllő and Gyöngyös plants organized a special fundraising and toy collection event for local schools for autistic children with the theme of “Let’s make this year’s children’s day nicer and happier”.

More than 400 employees donated HUF 400,000 (almost $1500) to the schools’ foundation to benefit children in need. This was the third time the plants had supported these institutions, including a special Christmas fundraiser last year.

On this occasion plant management paid a special visit to hand over the donation symbolically and distributed the toy parcels to the children, with the local television station in Gyöngyös also covering the event.

“I am very proud and grateful to the plants’ team members who came together to support our community once again,” said Béla Szabó-Lukovszki (Plant Mgr.). “Knowing we put a big smile on children’s faces and helped the schools in its ongoing work is an additional benefit we appreciate as a family at Lear.”

With a city population of about 35,000, Lear Gödöllő produces wiring for Volvo, Nissan and Ford and its town is situated about 30 km (20 miles) northeast from Budapest. Its hometown having approximately 30,000 people, Lear Gyöngyös is located a further 50 km (30 miles) northeast from Gödöllő and manufactures wire harnesses for Ford.
