Parks & Recreation Lear Argentina Partners with United Way
27 Lear volunteers from the Pacheco and Escobar plants in Argentina joined forces to partner with the United Way to work at the Los Luceros Civil Association for a community in Buenos Aires. The place, which is maintained by donations, provides a cafeteria for children and youth, offers social and educational workshops and has a small community garden and library.
The action was to turn a multi-purpose space into a playful environment. The Lear team spent a day painting the walls of the room, tables and chairs, making wooden sets and a stage used to present puppets, with the classic Little Red Riding Hood opening the schedule of presentations planned to entertain the children.
For Gabriel Garayalde (Escobar Quality Supervisor) it was a remarkable and rewarding moment: "Something that caught my attention was to see the love and dedication of the people who head up the places we help."
Cristian Niño Carranza (Pacheco Product Eng.) remembered that all the action done in the community has a much greater effect on society, saying, "It was gratifying to see that our work was able to provide children and young people with a more comfortable learning environment and tools that could help them develop. More than smiles today, this action will bring smiles tomorrow with the boys contributing to building a better society."
