Philippines “Brigade for Education” Volunteers

With the Philippine Department of Education’s nationwide appeal to support this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” (English translation as “Brigade for Education”), the Lear Philippine Engineering and Technology Center (PETC) volunteered to support the community where it does business, joining all sectors of society pitching in to make public schools clean, safe and conducive to learning.

In the spirit of teamwork and giving back, a group of 70 engineers and associates armed themselves with paint brushes and rollers and painted the entire 3rd floor lobby wall and a classroom at Maguikay Elementary School. All in all, 38 cans of four-liter paint were expended and some repair work on the classroom amenities was also performed. Aside from school supplies, books and four sets of wall fans that were deposited in the donation box put up in the PETC lobby prior to the activity, the employees were also able to donate a total amount of PHP 6900 ($150) of personal contributions to be used for additional school supplies for the use of the incoming students.
