Brazil Holiday Community Service in Caçapava and Navegantes

In order to provide some joy at year’s end for some underprivileged children, Lear’s Caçapava plant in Brazil promoted a Christmas Campaign for the children of the local Marilia Pereira public school.

With the theme “Believing in Santa Claus is to Believe in Solidarity", the community service effort could count on the participation of many Lear employees, who donated more than 200 toys for the children. At the beginning of December, the Lear team prepared more than a special moment to deliver the gifts and called upon a special guest, Santa Claus, for helpexpert help to deliver the gifts personally and visit and entertain the children. "We thank all who participated in this activity since it was a unique and exciting time for both the children and us," said Emanuelle Sanchez (Caçapava HR Supervisor).

“I would like to thank all employees who engaged in this wonderful campaign, which had the aim to serve the next generation as an act of love, affection and, above all, compassion for those most in need. I'm eternally grateful to work with a team that is always in search of improvements and eager to offer moments of happiness to our community. Once again many thanks to all,” added Paulo Roberto Pereira de Melo (Caçapava HR Mgr.).

Lear Navegantes had a special activity for the holiday season with team members “adopting” a resident of the Divine Providence Home, which houses elderly and disabled people. Each of the 54 residents received a gift and 30 Navegantes employees spend time with them on a visit that included coffee and conversation, gift distribution and the special Lear Navegantes band of musicians and singers that sang festive songs for the residents.

Throughout the year, Navegantes has also encouraged athletics for team members, sponsoring employee men’s and women’s soccer teams that build teamwork and compete against other companies in the area. Since 2013, the men have finished as high as second in the municipal SESI championship and the women won the SESI regional championship in indoor soccer. SESI (Social Service of Industry) is a national non-governmental association supported by business taxes and is an institution that works with companies to improve quality of education and also maintains a network of libraries, theaters, and cultural spaces as well as athletic facilities.

Juliana Ghisleni (Navegantes HR Mgr.) added, “Throughout the year we are happy to encourage health and fitness for our employees as well as give back to the community in many ways, such as the environment. The team members who visited Divine Providence demonstrated the Lear spirit of giving back to the community and gratitude that is especially fitting for the holiday season.”
